AICHA was founded in 2005 in Oumifiss, an oasis located in the Laqsabi-Tagoust Commune, Guelmim province, in the south of Morocco.
The association works towards the sustainable development of oasis areas in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region – which has been seriously affected by climate change, leading to human hardships and emigration to urban centres.
Our mission is to restore and develop agroecology, encourage the plantation of drought-resistant tree species, and stop rural exodus.
VISION – AICHA focuses on improving both local living conditions and the surrounding environment. Our educational project has been established as a response to the environmental and humanitarian challenges confronting the people of the Oued-Noun region.
MISSION – The association focuses on the plantation of drought-resistant tree species – cacti plants, argan, carob, olive, pomegranate trees… – in order to create modern and resilient oases, diversify sources of livelihoods, and improve the living conditions of local communities.
VALUES – Aicha is based on volunteerism, innovation, respect, and team spirit. These values reflect our responsibility to ensure the ecological balance of our planet and the health of future generations.
Hence, our team implements projects where:
The right to sustainable development is central;
Environmental education enables citizens to act, understand and respect natural processes and phenomena;
Self-employment is promoted through vocational training and the delivery of projects;
International solidarity initiatives allows citizens to open up and appreciate other parts of the world.
AICHA’S EQUATION – Scientific Culture and Technology + Values + Work = Sustainable Development
